How It Started
It Started With a River and a Family That Wouldn't Stay Home
Long before there was a business, there was a truck loaded with rods, waders, and too much gear for a long weekend in the Rockies. That's where Mallards & Marlins was born — not in a boardroom, but on the water, with family.
Over the years, those trips got better. The guides got better. The lodges got better. The dinners got better. And somewhere along the way, friends started asking us to plan their trips too.
By 2022, what had been a passion became a purpose. We formalized what we'd been doing for years — curating the kind of outdoor experiences most people don't know how to find, and helping business owners get the most out of what they'd built so they could actually enjoy what came next.
We kept meeting the same person. A business owner who'd spent 20 or 30 years building something real — and had no idea what it was actually worth. Or worse, they knew what it was worth and still walked away with less than they deserved.
Since 2022, we've been advising owners through valuations, exit planning, and the sale process. Not as a large firm with junior associates and overhead baked into every invoice — but as a single trusted advisor who's been through it and tells you the truth.
